Useful drawing techniques-Unit Measurements

One of the most useful and my personal favorite technique applied in the drawing process is unit measurement. To explain this technique, I’ve took the following photo to explain how this technique could be helpful when drawing.

First of all, we need to decide something as the unit to measure the other lines. What I’ve chosen as my unit is shown in the pink mark, now that is 1, all the other lines could be measured with it. For example the height of the lotion bottle could be measures as 6 and a half unit, and the width would be 2. I‘ve also shown the other relationships

After getting the scale of the actual thing, we can now transfer the relationship between the lines onto our drawing. Eventually, we can get a great sense of the scales of our still life object and reflect them onto our drawings.
